Win for Dennis Marschall on race debut of new BMW M4 GT4
Victory for Dennis Marschall in the new BMW M4 GT4! The official BMW Motorsport Junior immediately went straight out and took his maiden win in the GT4 European Series Southern Cup at Barcelona. Marschall won through in a field of 36 GT4 racing cars at the Spanish circuit along with team-mate, Beitske Visser. This was Marschall’s very first race outing in the newly developed BMW M4 GT4.
He impressed as the BMW M4 GT4 made its remarkable debut at an international level in the GT4 European Series Southern Cup. The 21-year-old was able to pull off the win on his first race outing at the Circuit de Catalunya after Dutch partner Visser had previously qualified the car third on the grid. Marschall even managed to secure P2 on the grid for Sunday’s race. The pairing in the BMW M4 GT4 fielded by Schubert Motorsport wanted to repeat their win from Saturday in Sunday’s round, but in rainy conditions, the car bearing start number #200 crossed the finish line in P15.
Dennis Marschall talking about…
…his win in Saturday’s race: “A win in my first race in the BMW M4 GT4 – it doesn’t get any better! We wanted to be among the front-runners but never expected to win in this strong field. Beitske’s start was excellent. She went straight into the lead in the first turn, having lined up in P3 on the grid. She controlled the race from the front until the end of the first stint. The driver handover went smoothly, and I secured P1 at the finish line. “
…his debut in the new BMW M4 GT4: “It’s brilliant that it began so well. We’d not posted many test kilometres prior to coming to Barcelona and immediately went out and won the first race. Also, we only narrowly missed pole position each time in the qualifying sessions, which speaks volumes for us and the BMW M4 GT4. Everyone in the team was proud of our achievement. I think we’re a good advert for the car. The BMW M4 GT4 felt excellent, especially in the fast corners, where we were able to gain time on our rivals. The brakes also gave excellent feedback. “
…his race debut at Barcelona: “This was my first race at Barcelona, which made victory all the nicer. After my debut year in the ADAC GT Masters, it was great to get to know another European race track, one that’s used for Formula 1. Both our races took place within the context of the Blancpain GT Series season finale, which was a really big and very cool event. It’s always good experience to race at an international level.”
…the rest of his programm for 2017: “I’ll be back this weekend in the VLN at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife where I contested a race in the BMW M235i Racing in August. I think it’s terrific that BMW are giving me the chance of more race outings this season. I’ll be learning more with every other kilometre that I post, especially on the Nordschleife.”
